VISIT To British Council Library (4.5.18)

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.”
― Ernest Hemingway

“It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.”
― Oscar Wilde

The above two quotes tell us how important books are in our lives. There is no greater a pleasure than reading a book in one's free time. To encourage reading habit in children, International Book Day is celebrated every year on 23rd April.  It’s a celebration of reading  designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading.

To mark this day, students of class 3 to 6, PRIMUS visited British Council Library on 4 th May. It is located on Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Children found the library to be modern, welcoming lwith easy-to-use technology that enabled them to check out books, magazines, CDs and DVDs with ease. Children were also told about various interactive and innovative workshops on a wide range of themes and subjects conducted by certified trainers. They were thrilled to know that these workshops are conducted during summer break, so its easy for them to join and perform in British Council after end of the workshops.

They were also delighted to know about bar codes which the parents can scan and download various books for free on their smart phones or tabs.

Children came back with a promise in their heart to try to read and value books more and join at least one exciting workshop.
