FOOT STEPS FOR GOOD (26.11.15)

What a day! So exciting , thrilling, some what challenging and yes tiring too !

The day started at 9.30 am with the school anthem. It was followed by a short but enthralling hockey dance and energetic aerobics by the students as part of opening ceremony. 

After a few words of encouragement and welcome address by our respected principal mam, Mrs. Rashmi Raj Biswal, and oath taking, the chief guest said those magical words," I declare the sports championship open."

There were many races for class 3,4,5 and 6 students and many PEC Card Activities. Most of the athletes from other schools and DAV Pushpanjali participated in popular events like Throw Ball, Relay Races, Dribble and Shoot, 60 mts. flat race and so on.

The last event was the 60 mts. flat race for teachers.Our students won many medals in various categories and made the school proud.

All the students enjoyed themselves and  had an unforgettable Sports Day.

Activity- My Shelter (Unit 6 S.ST Class 3)

Students of class 3 enjoyed doing trans disciplinary activity (visual arts). They made shelters used by animals and human beings with modelling clay. 

Activity - Methods of Cooking (class 3, unit 5 S.S.t)

Children of class 3 visited school Home Science Lab where they got first hand knowledge about different means of cooking and various utensils and tools used in cooking.

Children's Day

Children's day, in hindi known as "Bal Diwas", in India falls on November 14th every year . Children's day in India is celebrated on Pandit Nehru's birthday as a day of fun and frolic, a celebration of childhood, children and Nehruji's love for them.

Chacha Nehru as the children fondly referred to him, was fond of both children and roses. In fact he often compared the two, saying that children were like the buds in a garden. They should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they were the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow. He felt that children are the real strength of a country and the very foundation of society. 

Schools celebrate this day by organizing cultural programmes. Teachers of the school perform songs and dances for their students. Therefore, Children's Day is special.

Lit are the tiny lamps 
Lighting up all the camps 
White-washed beautifully
 House look too nice truly 
Crackers of many kind
 At shops do we find
 Variety of food prepared
 With the guests is too shared
 At Diwali, shunning anger 
All do hug one another.

                  GREEN DIWALI

Everybody celebrates Diwali, but not everyone celebrates a Green Diwali

1)Use Diyas Instead of Electric Lights- While being organic and traditional, it is closer to the true spirit of Diwali and it will also help those whose livelihood depends on the business.

2)Use Natural Flowers- Natural flowers add a freshness to the surroundings with their fragrance. Natural flowers can also be used in making rangolis. 

3) Gift Herbal Products-  Opt for herbal gifts which are environment-friendly as well as healthy. As for gift options, you can choose from hand-made candles, lampshades, organic gift-baskets, gourmet coffees, special teas or even plants.

4)Recycle Old Stuff- The coolest thing to do this Diwali is to give away your old stuff like clothes, shoes, etc to the less privileged ones.It will not only rid the environment from unwanted waste but also light the lives of certain people who cannot afford to get new things for themselves.
